19643 West Hawthorne Blvd. in Mundelein, Illinois was our home from 1984-1988. Dan worked for DeVry Institute of Technology in Evanston. He had an hour commute to and from work.
This is the front view of the house. The area is open with no fences.
When we lived in this house, a swing set was where the deck is located. The door goes into the kitchen.
Bill's Pizza was a favorite.
While we lived in Mundelein, we attended Kirk of the Lakes Presbyterian Church
Dan's Navy buddy, Ron Gai, and his wife Geri invited us to spend some time with them in their beautiful home in Hawthorne Woods, Illinois. Ron and Dan relived many memories.
Gardening is Geri's passion. A beautiful lady in her beautiful yard.
Ron uses fresh herbs from his garden.
Potatoes and tomatoes are ready for the grill. Ron, who is semi-retired, attended culinary school recently. He fixed us a delicious dinner.
Arugula, apple slices, special dressing and goat cheese. YUM
During the four years that we were in Illinois, we often took our 22' Starcraft boat to North Point Marina on Lake Michigan.
A National Historic Landmark, Taliesin East, located in Spring Green, Wisconsin, was the summer home of Frank Lloyd Wright, who was an American architect, interior designer, writer and educator. When he was in America, he lived here for 6 months in the summer and then moved to Taliesin West in Arizona for 6 months in the winter.
This building, open in 1932, was an architectural fellowship where young students could work with Wright and learn from him.
This picture shows how low the ceiling is on Wright's front porch.
